Many Upper East Siders keep a few secret items in their safes along with the family jewels. But this is the first time we’ve seen one holding a woman’s corpse! Castle and Beckett meet Ryan at the Upper East Side apartment of victim Susan Delgado. No sign of forced entry, same as three previous home invasions. She was shot at close range and the thieves then removed her wedding ring—along with her finger. Ouch! At the precinct, the cops try to connect the four recent home invasions. They were all in different high-end neighborhoods, targeting wall safes and expensive jewelry. The thieves have been speeding up their timetable, we learn. But, more worrisome, they’re also becoming more violent. Castle thinks the home invaders must somehow know their victims.
