National Geographic Documentaries - Nomads: Mountain Biking Las Vegas
Seizoen: 12 - Aflevering: 4 / 222 - Eerst uitgezonden: Onbekend - Episode ID: 442413
Four teen guys. Las Vegas. Trouble? Only if they came for the casinos. But in the rugged desert around the city, there's more action than in any air-conditioned hotel. Who's man enough to take on the bright lights? Jamie Goldman, Greg Watts, Cam McCaul and Jeremy Teman might be kids off their bikes, but in the saddle, they're veterans. NOMADS follows mountainbiking photojournalist Kathy Sessler as she put this trip to tape for an extreme biking video. Kathy kicks off the shoot at her Southern Californian home. The guys warm up on the dirt jumps in her backyard (and get in a little go-kart action too). Then the team heads for Sin City, where they camp at the Rio Hotel. But there's no time for the tables when Bootleg Canyon awaits. Born from volcanoes, this Alternative Sports haven still has danger in spades. Greg and Cam hit up some tricks on the concreted jumps, and give a lesson on how to fly...and how to fall. Jeremy and Greg zigzag through the technically demanding upper trail of Bootleg, then soar through the sweeping berms of the gnarliest downhill trails. Sin City wins a hand, when a thief breaks into the team's van and steals their cameras and footage. But they won't give up on the shoot. They find where the action is free in Vegas: at an old motocross track, at a skate park, and at the campus of the University of Nevada. Concrete, dirt or grass, it doesn't matter, they can shred it. They trick off of trees, garbage cans and picnic tables...at least until the cops hassle them. Looking for a more secluded locale to ride, the guys scout a ravine just beyond the city limits. Cam's the guinea pig when he sees an insane line off a cliff, but when he dials it in, the team is stoked for the great shot. They finally make peace with big, bad Vegas when they befriend some urban BMX bikers at a skate park. The BMXers skills inspire Jamie to finally land an elusive 720. With that, the team cashes out, with a pocket full of great memories and some killer footage for the video as well.
