Morty Manta was a normal kid until he met Yoh Asakura while taking a trip through the local graveyard and discovering ghosts. Trying to prove that spirits are real to his friends at school, he is beaten up by the gangster Wooden Sword Rio while visiting the graveyard again, and Yoh teams up with the ancient spirit of Amidamaru to get revenge for Morty.
