The Fourth Doctor was the fourth incarnation of the Time Lord known as the Doctor. He left all ties of his previous incarnation's exile behind on Earth, setting off to travel the cosmos. In stark contrast to the elegant and refined, but somewhat flamboyant, figure of his third incarnation, the fourth incarnation was an unkempt, bohemian-looking figure, dressed in comfortable, earth-toned clothing and a ridiculously long, multi-coloured scarf, which had originally been knitted for him by Madame Nostradamus. His dark curly hair was often partially hidden by a large floppy fedora. Professor Marius remarked that the Doctor looked like a "space vagrant".
