Fox Benches New Girl Until November
Geplaatst op 11 oktober 2011 12:58 door CavaleraBad news for 'New Girl' fans, but great news for 'X Factor' and baseball fans: Fox is benching the new comedy until November in order to accommodate some scheduling tweaks.
The network has retooled its schedule slightly to allow it to air even longer episodes of 'The X Factor' as well as the MLB play-offs and World Series. This means that no new episodes of 'The New Girl' will air until November.
A schedule special airing of 'The New Girl' tomorrow night will be replaced by a two-hour (count 'em) episode of 'The X Factor,' which will introduce the "judges' mansions" round of the competition.
Fox had originally planned to air new episodes of 'The New Girl' on Tuesday October 18 and 25, but those have also been pulled to make room for two-hour episodes of 'The X Factor.'
Will the gamble pay off in the ratings for Fox? 'The X Factor' ratings have been below expectations so far, but the novelty of the "judges mansions" round and the introduction of live episodes next month could give the show a boost.
Simon Cowell must be hoping for better luck than the U.K. 'X Factor' is having right now. Fox execs take note: The show has been shedding viewers in large numbers since it adopted a new extended format. Many fans have complained that at a whopping two and a half hours running time the show simply drags on for too long.
