Lifetime Renews 'Rita Rocks'

Lifetime Television said it picked up a second season of its original primetime comedy “Rita Rocks.”

Twenty new episodes have been ordered from Media Rights Capital.

The series premiered in October and has been paired with the off-network sitcom “Reba.”

“‘Rita Rocks’ is the first original comedy that Lifetime has launched in 10 years, so you can imagine how delighted we are to welcome it back for a second season,” said JoAnn Alfano, executive VP for entertainment at Lifetime. “It’s smart, it’s funny, and it appeals to anyone who has ever tried to carve out a little time for herself.”

Nicole Sullivan returns as Rita. Other returning cast members are Richard Ruccolo, Tisha Campbell-Martin and Natalie Dreyfuss.
